Mother and Child: A Legacy of Love, Art & Culture- Art Exhibition and Opening Reception

This Second Friday, Ultra Silk Gallery presents a special exhibition drawn from the Estate of Sharifa Abdul-Hamid, artist, collector and co-owner of the historic Heritage Art Gallery in Old City Philadelphia.

At a time when Philadelphia was emerging as an important center for Black art, Heritage Art Gallery helped create space for African American artists, collectors and audiences to connect. Now, selections from Sharifa's personal collection offer a rare opportunity to experience a piece of that history.

MOTHER & CHILD.. brings together original works and prints by celebrated artists including Romare Bearden, Ernie Barnes, Columbus Knox, Ellen Powell-Tiberino, Earl Lewis, Tom McKinney, Richard Watson, Leon McDuffie and more, alongside African art and cultural works collected throughout Sharifa's life.*
