Ultra Silk Gallery will host a series of special programs to celebrate Kwanzaa, an African American and Pan-African holiday that honors family, community, and culture and marks the first fruits of the harvest. Fun for all ages. Come out and get "Creative" at our Kuumba Kwanzaa Ceremony Celebration.

About the Event
THIS IS A DONATION BASED EVENT: Kids are FREE to attend, yet we ask all adults who wish to attend to practice princibles UJIMA and UJAMAA and please contribute to our performers for putting together this wonderful celebration for you to share.
Sistahs Laying down Hands kicks off its Pre-Kwanzaa celebration with arts, crafts and cultural rites that will facilitate healing and celebrate heritage through ritual, song, and dance.
Through various activities like African drumming and candle lighting, this fun filled celebration will highlight all of the Kwanzaa principles: Umoja, Kujichagulia , Ujima,Ujamaa , Nia, Kuumba, and Imani.
Attendees can also catch Ultra Silk Gallery & Westside Studio exhibitions “Black Friday Art” which traces the contributions of people of African descent between 1876 to present day.
So light the kinara and give thanks at this Kwanzaa Celebration held in partnership by The Silk Tent & Ultra Silk Gallery. Percussionists Sistas Laying Down Hands perform and teaching artists offer engaging activities.
