"From the Hands of Ramsess" Opening Reception

There are only a few people who have the ability to tell a story, convey an idea, or cultivate ancient interpretations through visions of personal passion, but these skills manifest themselves in the persona of the artist known as Ramsess. From our past and present he sews a patchwork of innovative memorials in remembrance of honored icons, jazz greats, and events taken from our historical roots. Whether through needle and thread, cut glass, or paint and pencil, Ramsess manipulates color to create imaginative expressions of emotional beauty, design, and heirloom tapestries. Ramsess has participated in regional exhibitions in California including but not limited to, The Skirball Cultural Center, Art and Practice, The Brockman Gallery, The Watts Towers, Sargent Gallery, First African Methodist Episcopal Church and the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival. Nationally at the Colorado Art Jazz Festival, Telluride Jazz Fest, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Jacksonville and Clearwater Jazz Festivals, Association of Jazz Educators, WGBO radio and the famed St. Peter’s Church in NYC. His work has appeared on numerous television shows and films, most recently Issa Rae’s Insecure. Globally in South Africa, Tokyo, Leningrad, Frankfurt, Paris, Montreal, and Barcelona and Montreal. The collections of Anna Marie Horsford, Samuel L. Jackson, Dianne Reeves, Baltimore Museum of Art, Glynn Turman, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Clifford Brown Jr., Marshall Allen (Sun Ra), Santana, Cindy Blackman, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Meshell Ndegeocello. "From the Hands of Ramsess" Art Exhibition and Opening Reception featuring Ramsess will be held on Second Friday, October 13th, 2023 from 5PM-8PM at Ultra Silk Gallery (3808 Lancaster Avenue Philadelphia PA 19104). Preview will be available when doors open at 12PM. Afterwards, exhibit will be open for viewing during business hours until Sunday, November 5th, 2023.
