About the Event
This summer, Ultra Silk Gallery proudly presents Freedom Rhythms: Letting Freedom Ring in Art, Jazz, and Soul, a group exhibition exploring the enduring relationship between freedom, jazz, visual art, and the enduring spirit of community.
Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic 1965 Freedom Now Rally on Lancaster Avenue and celebrating the 100th Anniversary of jazz legend John Coltrane's birth, the exhibition brings together artists whose work reflects resilience, identity, memory, movement, and hope. Through painting, sculpture, mixed media, photography, and textile arts, Freedom Rhythms examines the many ways artists continue to interpret the pursuit of freedom across generations.
Dr. King gave language to freedom.
Coltrane gave sound to freedom.
Artists give image and form to freedom.
