First stop, Lancaster Avenue’s newest art gallery—Ultra Silk Gallery!
Explore the Ultra Silk’s world-class collection of global art and artifacts. Celebrate the culmination of Illustration Artist Aaron Beatty's art one last time of his captivating solo exhibition "Cultural Cadences", with the opportunity to purchase his mesmerizing artworks. Barnes assistant curator TK Smith will then give a brief talk on two of the Barnes current exhibitions , Matisse & Renoir: New Encounters at the Barnes, and Visions..
Then, hop on a chartered bus to the Barnes for complimentary access to First Fridays at The Barnes. Enjoy an evening of art, live music, cocktails, and light fare at our monthly First Friday mixer. Tonight’s program is presented in partnership with BlackStar Film Festival, an annual celebration of the visual storytelling traditions of the African diaspora, showcasing films by Black, Brown, and Indigenous artists from around the world.
Our collaboration with the Barnes & BlackStar Film Festival features a night of music by Ethiopian-born, Washington, DC–raised R&B and soul singer Wayna. Her Grammy-nominated music celebrates her cultural background and influences like Jill Scott, Lauryn Hill, and Erykah Badu. Wayna has released three albums, toured the world with her band, and shared the stage with artists like Stevie Wonder. An elected national trustee of the Grammys, she co-created the new category Best Song for Social Change.
Plus, catch the world premiere of Wayna’s newest music video “Good on Paper,” directed by BlackStar founder Maori Holmes, and dance to beats by DJ JAMZ on the West Terrace.
First Friday at the Barnes includes access to the first-floor collection galleries, Matisse & Renoir: New Encounters at the Barnes, and Visions.

- 6pm: Gallery talk, wine, and light refreshments at Ultra Silk Gallery
- 7pm: Chartered bus pick-up from Ultra Silk Gallery and travel to the Barnes
- 7:15 – 9pm: First Friday at the Barnes, featuring performances, cocktails and access to the collection galleries.
- 9pm: Chartered bus pick-up from the Barnes and travel to Ultra Silk Gallery
