BLAM! Noisemakers LIVE! Art Exhibition Opening Reception

African American history has produced countless exceptional heroes, leaders, and role models. The graphic novel, BLAM! Black Lives Always Mattered! Hidden African American Philadelphia of the Twentieth Century, tells the inspiring stories of 14 African Americans who had a major impact on the city of Philadelphia. People like W.E.B. DuBois, Marian Anderson, Julien F. Abele, and Cecil B. Moore, to name a few. 

Every profile is vibrantly illustrated with facts and images that emphasize each individual’s life and accomplishments. All of the subjects overcame discrimination and racism as depicted in the vividly illustrated graphic panels.  The graphic panels were illustrated by an esteemed group of artists of color: Eric Battle, Damali Beatty, Akinseye Brown, Dylan Caleho, Andrew Dalhouse, Nancy Devard, Micheline Hess, Mike Leeke, Nile Livingston, Christine Kerrick, Jamar Nicholas, Will Rosado, and Dwayne Turner.   

"BLAM! Noisemakers LIVE!" Art Exhibition Opening Reception & Book Signing featuring the graphic novel as well as a private collection of art from the artists themselves will be held on Second Friday, July 14th, 2023 from 5PM-8PM at Ultra Silk Gallery (3808 Lancaster Avenue Philadelphia PA 19104). Preview will be available when doors open at 12PM. Exhibit will be open for viewing during business hours until Sunday, August 6th 2023.
