Ultra Silk Gallery invites artists to submit work for Freedom Rhythms: Letting Freedom Ring in Art, Jazz, and Soul. This juried exhibition seeks to highlight visual art that engages with freedom, justice, and cultural expression, particularly as related to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Freedom Now speech, the social and political climate of the 1960s, and contemporary resonances of these themes. Artists are encouraged to explore moral urgency, civil rights, voting rights, Black love and empowerment, and the intersections of music, history, and cultural narrative. Works that incorporate jazz as metaphor or inspiration, reflecting the legacy of John Coltrane, are especially welcome.
All media are considered, including painting, sculpture, textile, mixed media, photography, and print. Artists retain ownership of submitted works. Selected works will be available for purchase, providing opportunities for collectors to engage directly with the exhibition. The call launches on Monday, January 19, 2026 (MLK Day). Submission details, including deadlines, specifications, and image requirements, will be available on Ultra Silk Gallery’s website and social media platforms. By submitting work, artists grant Ultra Silk Gallery a non-exclusive, royalty-free right to use images of submitted work for promotion, marketing, and associated events, including Freedom Now Fest. This includes digital, print, and social media channels, as well as the potential use of artwork imagery for festival merchandising, posters, and related collateral. This ensures that the exhibition can reach broad audiences while providing visibility to participating artists.
